As the corporate and government fleet management specialists we have some rather interesting statistics and figures at our fingertips. So, we thought we would share some figures from one of our countries with you...

• How much time do you spend in your company car? 6% of our fleet are travelling over 60,000 kilometres per annum and assuming that most of this driving is done over 5 days a week this equates to more than 3 hours a day behind the wheel. The majority of the fleet however spend half this amount of time with 64% travelling less than 30,000 kilometres per annum.
  
  
• What type of vehicle do you think would be most popular for a fleet vehicle? Wagons and Hatches (5 door vehicles) make up slightly more of our fleet than 4 door sedans, with 2 door vehicles representing only a very small number.- Small vehicles (under 2 Litre) are the most popular vehicle size making up 44% of the LeasePlan fleet. 35% of our drivers have a 2 Litre vehicle while 17% are driving a 3 Litre vehicle.
  
  
• White is the most popular colour at 36% followed by Silver (20%), Blue (17%), Green (12%), Red (10%) - other colours such as Black, Orange, Grey, Beige, Burgundy & Gold only represent 5% of our fleet between them.
  
  
• A little bit of a surprise is that 69% of the LeasePlan fleet drive a manual vehicle and only 31% drive an automatic.
  
  
• How old is your company vehicle? 10% of our vehicles are less than a year old, 18% are 1 year old, 20% 2 years old, 21% 3 years old and 31% are more than 3 years old.
  
  
• How far has your vehicle travelled? 47% of the fleet have driven less than 60,000 kilometres, 38% have driven between 60,000 - 120,000 kilometres and 15% have driven more than 120,000 kilometres.
  
  
• On average, each vehicle has a weekly spend of approximately $55 on fuel. Unleaded fuel is the most common at 65%.
  
  
• How long have you been driving your company vehicle? 25% of our fleet have a lease duration of 12 months or less, 8% are between 12 & 24, 38% are between 24 & 36, 15% are between 36 & 45 and 14% are between 45 & 60 months.
  
  
• Amongst the vehicles that LeasePlan provides accident management for, there are approximately 1,400 accidents per year - that's nearly 4 per day and equates to an accident every 75,000km. We should note however that in 50% of cases LeasePlan drivers were not at fault!
  
  
• With over 2,000 infringement tickets coming through our office per annum (at an average cost of $90) drivers of LeasePlan vehicles contribute nearly $200,000 a year to the local governments. The majority of these (a whopping 85%) are for speeding violations.
